About Us

Originally established under Public Act 129 of 1943 and then reestablished under Public Act 233 of 2017, Southeast Macomb Sanitary District is a joint venture of three cities located in southeast Macomb County: Eastpointe, Roseville, and St. Clair Shores. The primary function of the District is to operate a sewage transportation system and a retention treatment basin servicing Eastpointe, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Grosse Pointe Woods, Harper Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores. This sewage transportation system includes approximately 30 miles of sewer, 350 manholes, and 4 pump stations.

SEMSD Permit

The SEMSD owns, maintains and operates various trunk sanitary sewers in the Cities of Eastpointe, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Farms. In addition, the SEMSD owns pump station facilities in the cities of St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe Farms. A permit is required from the SEMSD when a construction project effects the assets owed the SEMSD. This would include new connections or repairs to the connections to the SESMD sewers.
